CWW Member Meeting: CAE-CD Program Update

The guest speaker at our April Member Meeting will be Lori Pfannenstein, a Program Manager at the National Security Agency (NSA) for the NSA/DHS National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) Program within the National Cryptologic School’s College of Cyber.


Ms. Pfannenstein will present on the CAE-CD Program requirements, including

  • updated Knowledge Units (KUs) to be implemented for the 2019 application cycle
  • designated program naming conventions
  • candidates program for new applicants
  • re-designation requirements


The goal of the CAE-CD Program is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense and producing professionals with cybersecurity expertise for the United States. Ms. Pfannenstein has a long history of working in the cybersecurity arena, with many years in Computer Network Operations for the Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) mission at NSA. She has held a number of program management, management, and technical positions during her more than 36 years of NSA experience.

This online meeting, however, will be open to any faculty or staff of an educational institution interested in the CAE-CD designation or re-designation. When registering for the event, be sure to answer completely the questions about your "organization" (i.e., educational institution) and its CAE-CD status.
